Objectives

1. The learner will define self-compassion and its three components and discuss situations in which it is utilized.
2. The learner will discuss the neuropathological changes that occur in substance use disorder, differentiate it from tolerance and dependence, and identify actionable steps to take should a nurse suspect a colleague is diverting.
3. The learner will define reflective listening, describe the steps of mental health first aid, and be able to discuss a situation in which a bedside nurse would utilize these skills.
